The Chandrasena legacy

Founded by a father of contemporary Sinhala music.

R. A. Chandrasena (1924–1980) founded his institute of music in 1951 and mentored some of the island’s greatest artists — among them Premasiri Khemadasa and Victor Ratnayake. Today his daughter Darshani carries that devotion to a new generation.

He never turned away anyone who was keen to learn.
